Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about our work here.

1. What is Silsilah Connect?

Silsilah Connect is a values-driven delivery network that supports community organisations with aligned volunteers, safe processes, and coordinated project delivery.
It works hand-in-hand with The Silsilah Portal our digital matching system to ensure contributors serve with clarity, confidence, and healthy boundaries.

We provide onboarding, safeguarding guidance, wellbeing support, and structured training so service is delivered safely, sustainably, and with integrity.

2. Who is Silsilah Connect for?

We support:

  • Organisations seeking trusted, values-aligned volunteers
  • Community leaders running impactful projects
  • Volunteers and professionals looking for roles that respect their faith, wellbeing, and capacity

If you contribute to your community in any way, Silsilah Connect is designed for you.

3. How does the matching process work?

Matching happens through The Silsilah Portal, our guided digital platform built on the Modular Ummah Framework.
Volunteers are connected to roles based on skills, interests, boundaries, and values, ensuring every match supports safe, transparent, and sustainable service for all involved.

4. Do I need to use the full Modular Ummah framework to join?

No. You can benefit from Silsilah Connect whether you need support for one project or want deeper integration. We meet you exactly where you are.

5. What support do volunteers receive?

Volunteers receive:

  • Safeguarding and onboarding guidance
  • Wellbeing check-ins and reflective spaces
  • Free resources, guides, and frameworks

Access to the Silsilah Listening Line (coming soon)

A dedicated Support Line for practical help with the Portal, roles, boundaries, and expectations

Together, these ensure volunteers serve with clarity, confidence, and care.

6. What support do organisations receive?

Organisations gain access to:

  • A pool of trusted, values-aligned volunteers via The Silsilah Portal
  • Coordinated delivery support through Silsilah Connect
  • Free training materials and implementation resources
  • Professional, capacity-aware support grounded in safeguarding and community care

7. Is Silsilah Connect an app or a traditional organisation?

Neither. Silsilah Connect is a flexible, people-powered delivery service, while The Silsilah Portal is the digital platform that powers volunteer–organisation matching.
Together they form a supportive ecosystem without adding bureaucracy or pressure.

8. What is the difference between the Support Line and the Listening Line?

Silsilah Support Line: A practical, guided service helping users navigate The Silsilah Portal, understand roles, clarify boundaries, and follow safeguarding expectations.

Silsilah Space (Listening Line): A calm, values-led wellbeing space for volunteers and community workers to reflect and feel heard. This is not counselling, it is structured emotional support rooted in compassion and care.

9. What other services are part of the ecosystem?

Silsilah Connect includes:

  • The Silsilah Portal: A digital platform for values-led volunteer–organisation matching
  • Voices From the Ummah Podcast
  • The Silsilah Van: A mobile hub for outreach and workshops
  • The Listening Space (live)
  • Silsilah Magazine: A quarterly resource for community stories and guidance

Each part works together to create safe, connected, values-aligned service.

10. Is training available?

Yes. We offer online and onsite training across the UK, tailored to your context. Sessions can be interactive, visual, discussion-based, or delivered as short modules or full programmes.

11. How much does it cost to join?

Access to the platform, resources, and support lines is free for volunteers and partner organisations. Some advanced services or project delivery support may be discussed individually depending on scope and capacity.

12. What is Silsilah Verified?

Silsilah Verified is a guided, ethical verification system that ensures every volunteer and organisation experience is real, transparent, and aligned with our shared values.

Instead of open-ended or popularity-based reviews, Silsilah Verified uses structured, moderated prompts focused on:

  • Communication clarity
  • Respect for boundaries
  • Safeguarding practice
  • Professionalism and organisational care
  • Contributor wellbeing and overall experience

It also verifies projects, not just individual experiences.
Outreach or community initiatives that meet all Five Points of the Silsilah Integrity Standard can earn the Silsilah Verified mark, confirming they operate with trust, safety, and values-led excellence.

Wherever you see the Silsilah Verified logo or reviews, you can be confident you’re in safe hands.

13. How will the Volunteer Opportunities section and Mobile App work?

The upcoming mobile app will let volunteers:

All within a safe, guided, values-first digital experience.
